On the day before the South Region final, the NCAA arranged to have five players from each team in “breakout” rooms for interviews with the media.

A player-by-player look at Kentucky:
Terrence Jones: Produced his third double-double in his past four games. Scored 22 points, his highest total since his 27-point game at LSU on Jan. 28. The sophomore made nine of 13 shots, hit one of his two three-point attempts and was a perfect three-of-three from the line. Grabbed 10 rebounds, and is now averaging 10.2 rebounds per game over his last four. Compare this to last year when Jones had 10 points and two rebounds against Princeton in his NCAA Tournament debut.
Anthony Davis: Scored 16 points for his fifth consecutive double-figure game. Grabbed nine rebounds, so missed a double-double by just one rebound. Blocked seven shots, his highest total since he blocked seven at Vanderbilt on Feb. 11. Davis made four-of-five shots in the second half. He had 11 points, four rebounds and four blocked shots in the second half.

In Baton Rouge in January, Terrence Jones scored 27 points to lead Kentucky to a 74-50 win over LSU. Friday in New Orleans, Jones did not lead the Cats in scoring in their 60-51 win over the Tigers, but he was the go-to man in the second half.
Once LSU had taken a 35-30 lead with 16:51 left, Jones went on his own personal 9-0 run. He jammed home a lob from Darius Miller to make it 35-32 at the 15:42 mark. He scored on a drive from the right baseline at the 15:12 mark to make it 35-34. He tied the egame by making the second of two free throws at 14:41. Then he rebounded a Miller miss and scored with 14:20 left to put UK in front 37-35.
Finally, with 12:21 left, he made two more free throws to push the Kentucky lead to 39-35. Jones scored just two more points the rest of the way — free throws at the 4:45 mark — but he left his imprint on the quarterfinal victory.
