Charlie Strong’s Cardinals are going to bring the blazing heat Saturday night at Commonwealth Stadium. That’s a given. Louisville is a pressure defense that loves to mix in blitzes from different angles and locations. All angles, actually. Strong wants to catch the offense by surprise, make it vulnerable, then seize on that vulnerability for a big play or a turnover.
That means that on the offensive end, recognition and assignments are key. To protect Kentucky quarterback Morgan Newton, the Cats’ offensive line have to make sure they know what’s coming, who’s coming and from what direction it’s coming.
“They’re going to get us on some plays,” admitted offensive coordinator Randy Sanders on Wednesday.
