My friend Mark McCarter, sports columnist for the Huntsville Times, passes along that Deaunte Mason, a trasnfer from Kentucky, was named the Offensive MVP in tonight’s Magic City Classic after leading Alabama A&M to a 21-7 win over Alabama State.
Mason, who trasnferred to A&M after redshirting last season at UK, completed 21 of 32 passes for 273 yards and two touchdowns in his first career start. The fomrer Nashville Pearl-Cohn High School star threw a 57-yard pass to Thomas Harris on the first play of the game.
The 6-3, 209-pound redshirt freshman also rushed eight times for 54 yards. Mason came to UK as a quarterback, but was moved to tight end before transferring.
