Adolphus Washington, the defensive end from Cincinnati who has Kentucky in his final five choices, is denying internet reports that he has committed or is about to commit to Ohio State.

Brian Giesenschlag of Fox 19 in Cincinnati reports that he talked to Washington’s coach, Mike Martin, plus a Washington teammate, both of which said the report was not true.

Josh Helmholdt of Rivals says he talked to Washington who said the report was untrue and “I’m open to everyone.” Washington did say that Ohio State was his leader.

Helmholdt is playing host to an online chat with Washington tonight at 8.

It’s been just over a week since Cincinnati Taft defensive end Adolphus Washington narrowed his list of possible colleges to Michigan, Ohio State, Alabama, Miami and Kentucky.

Since then, Ohio State coach Jim Tressel resigned.

The question is how that might affect Washington, the Under Armour All-American who is ranked as the nation’s 86th best prospect by Rivals.

Before Tressel’s resignation, Washington spoke highly of UK, telling ESPN, “When it comes to Kentucky, I like them, my dad likes them, it’s SEC football and it’s close to my family.”
