This team has not played up to the usual standards set by previous teams at UK and they have deserved the slings and arrows directed towards them.

Therefore it’s only fair to give the players credit tonight for playing with heart and intensity. The deserved the win. Hopefully they can keep it going, finish strong and get into the tournament.

That game in 1974, won by Alabama, would have been in Memorial Coliseum, not Rupp Arena.

Mr. Clay, thank you for posting that information. I had been wondering about Tubby and how he was faring with this latest collapse. Obviously he is a good person and devoted family man. He also seems to mostly do things the right way which is admirable.

It appears now, however, that the UK base that saw him not keeping up is becoming more and more vindicated. That is very nice.

All Tubby had to do to keep his job up there was win 18-20 games a season and make the NCAA tournament once in a while. It would have helped if he was actually able to win a game or two in it from time to time.

He couldn’t even do that.

He simply hasn’t been the same coach at UK or UM since 2000 when instead of recruiting he went off to be an assistant coach for the Olympic team. It was his choice I guess and he’s paid for it the past 13 seasons (with an excewption or two at UK)
