Report: UK’s DeWayne Peevy finalist for AD opening at UCF

Kentucky’s deputy athletics director DeWayne Peevy is one of the finalists under consideration to replace George O’Leary, who is retiring as athletics director at Central Florida, the Orlando Sentinel is reporting.

An excerpt from the Sentinel:

A source with direct knowledge of the interviews told the Orlando Sentinel that UCF President John Hitt will interview three athletics director finalists Monday in Chicago. One of the finalists is Kentucky deputy athletics director DeWayne Peevy, a former media relations director for the SEC and close confidant of Wildcats basketball coach John Calipari. University of Buffalo athletics director Danny White, the son of Duke athletics director Kevin White who has worked with Hitt in the past, is also said to be a finalist.

Peevy came to UK from the Southeastern Conference office in 2008. He was promoted to deputy athletics director in 2013.

Eric Lindsey, UK’s associate director of media relations, said the school had no comment on the Orlando Sentinel’s report.
