My AP college football poll ballot: week 5

utahwilsonryankangap

Here was my ballot for this week’s AP college football poll:

I dropped TCU from No. 2 back to No. 5 because of the way the Horned Frogs’ defense has performed. Texas Tech has an explosive offense, but TCU needs to stop some people if Gary Patterson’s team is going to make the College Football Playoff foursome.

I jumped Utah into the No. 7 spot on the strength of its smackdown of Oregon in Eugene. And Utah’s opening-night win over Michigan is looking better all the time, what with Jim Harbaugh’s Wolverines stringing three straight wins since then, including a victory over previously ranked BYU last Saturday.

My ballot for Sept. 27

  • 2. Michigan State
