BBL: The stunning Rex Chapman arrest

Shocking news about former UK basketball star and former NBA player Rex Chapman, who has been charged with shoplifting $14,000 from an Apple store in Arizona. Last we heard much from Rex was right before the national title game, when he claimed via Twitter that John Calipari was going to the Lakers.

The Arizona Republic story on the Chapman arrest. “Scottsdale police say Chapman is alleged to have stolen items from the Apple Store at the Scottsdale Quarter on seven occasions in recent months.”

Jennifer Smith of the Herald-Leader writes on the life-changing service trip some of the UK football players made to Ethiopia over the summer. Punter Landon Foster said that after returning, he couldn’t help notice the stark differences between his life and those of the people he visited in Ethiopia.

Skal Labaissiere is at UK for his official visit, reports Ben Roberts of Next Cats. The 6-foot-10 target is rated the No. 3 players in the class of 2015 by Scout.

New Jersey point guard Isaiah Briscoe is to visit UK after great talk with John Calipari, reports Roberts. Briscoe says UK recruitment is “something I dreamed of.”

The Minnesota Timberwolves are making a run at former UK guard Eric Bledsoe with a max contract. Other reports say the Suns, Bledsoe’s current team, are not interested in a sign-and-deal with the T-wolves.

John Calipari spoke at the Big Blue Madness camp-out last night. The final tent count was 770. Considering some lucky campers received free mattresses and pillows, plus pizza, I might have to pitch my tent there next year.

Kentucky quarterback Patrick Towles showed his potential at Florida, reports Kyle Tucker of the C-J. Towles passed for the most yards in The Swamp since Tim Couch back in 1998.
