Reports tonight say that ESPN is adding yet another college basketball commentator with a Duke background.

The Big Lead is reporting that Miami Heat forward Shane Battier will retire after the NBA finals against the San Antonio Spurs and join the World Wide Leader as an analyst on college basketball next season.

The 35-year-old Battier was an All-American at Duke who was the Final Four’s Most Outstanding Player in 2001. He joins Jay Bilas and Jay Williams as former Blue Devils who are currently a part of ESPN’s basketball coverage.

Battier was the No. 6 overall draft pick in the 2001 NBA Draft. He’s played 13 years in the NBA. He played 73 games in the regular season, starting 56.

Speaking of the Draft, Battier was part of ESPN’s draft coverage last yar. He interviewed prospects after they were drafted.

The reviews weren’t the best. Battier had some awkward moments.
