Can Kentucky’s hot offense keep it up?

ARLINGTON, Tex. — Sports Illustrated’s college basketball experts have made their Final Four picks, and the magazine’s stats guru is picking Wisconsin because he doesn’t see a positive Kentucky trend continuing.

Luke Winn writes:

The ‘Cats amazing run of offense — in this NCAA tournament, they scored 1.26 points per possession against Wichita State, 1.16 PPP against Louisville and 1.32 PPP against Michigan — is due for a cold spell, and the Badgers are calculating enough to pull off the upset.

Indeed, Kentucky’s offensive numbers have been impressive in the NCAA Tournament and a step up from the regular season. The Cats are hitting more threes. They’re killing it on the boards. Those two factors have goosed the stats.
