Comparing Kentucky and Louisville’s NCAA numbers

In preparation for Friday night, let’s study Kentucky and Louisville’s numbers from their two tournament games last weekend.

Louisville’s two opponents, Manhattan and Saint Louis, made a combined three of 20 three-point shots. Louisville’s defense also forced the two into high turnovers percentages — 21.7 for Manhattan and 25.9 for Saint Louis.

Kentucky did a great job of keeping Kansas State and Wichita State off the offensive glass. Kansas State posted an offensive rebound percentage of 25.0 while Wichita State’s ORP was a lowly 15.4.

Here’s the chart with ORP meaning offensive rebound percentage or number of offensive rebounds divided by chances; TOP meaning turnover percentage or percentage of possessions that ended in a turnover; PPP meaning points per possession.
