Big Blue Links for Friday:
South Carolina pounded the Kentucky women’s basketball team 81-58 last night at Memorial Coliseum. South Carolina leads the SEC, but Mark Story writes that this was not what we thought UK would like this at this point of the season.
South Carolina dominated the paint in the victory. “We just gave Kentucky a taste of their own medicine,” USC coach Dawn Staley said. “We wanted to keep pushing the ball and continuously get the ball in the paint. We were equally aggressive getting the ball in the paint, and it gave us good penetration.”
LSU will try to sweep the UK men when the Tigers arrive at Rupp Arena on Saturday. A key to LSU’s 87-82 win over visiting Kentucky last month, Johnny O’Bryant had a big game for the Tigers. He expects to receive more attention in the rematch.
ESPN has been milking John Calipari vs. Rick Pitino when it comes to their respective comments about social media. Caliapri seems to say kids have to deal with it. Pitino seems to say there are more important things to read than social media. Seems to me they’re both right.
Eric Crawford of WDRB writes on the social media controversy.
Bleacher Report’s Jason King got to spend some extra time with Calipari and his Cats. He writes that it’s now or never for the Cats as the season closes in on March.
Florida State has offered Madison Southern running back Damien Harris, the former Michigan commit who attended UK’s Pro Day last weekend.
