SEC links for Thursday:

Marshall Henderson’s indefinite suspension is apparently over at Ole Miss. Henderson will play Saturday when the Rebels play at Coastal Carolina. “I know they’ll be excited to yell at Marshall,” Ole Miss basketball coach Andy Kennedy said. “But get in line; a lot of people are.”

South Carolina’s football team needs a win over Florida to stay in the SEC East race. The Gators are reeling, losers of four straight, but the Gamecocks know that Will Muschamp’s team has talent.

Pat Dooley of the Gainesville Sun writes that Steve Spurrier has been a better head coach at South Carolina than he was at Florida. He argues that Florida was loaded when Spurrier arrived in Gainesville, and the Old Ball Coach was the right person take advantage of the talent. It has been more difficult to build a winner at South Carolina, but that is exactly what Spurrier has done.

As for Muschamp, the embattled coach received a vote of confidence Wednesday from Florida AD Jeremy Foley. Foley acknowledged that things have not gone well for the Gators but insists, “Coach Muschamp is the one that will fix it.”

The league’s CBS football matchup Saturday is Georgia-Auburn. For the second time this season, the Bulldogs face a former player now playing quarterback for an opposing team. First, it was LSU’s Zach Mettenberger. Now it is Auburn’s Nick Marshall, who was a defensive back at Georgia, and has a new lease on life at Auburn.

As Mississippi State prepares to play Alabama, the Bulldogs’ Chris Jones, a heralded prep prospect, is making strides after switching to defensive tackle. Jones says that high school was easy compared to the preparation he has had to do for college games.

LSU is very happy with its three early basketball signees. The class won’t land in the top 25, but Johnny Jones thinks it provides just what the Tigers needed. One signee is a 7-footer, Elbert Robinson out of Texas.

Alabama is probably done in the early-signing period after inking three basketball players Wednesday. Two transfers will join the Crimson Tide next season.

Missouri announced the signing of top-50 basketball prospect Jakeenan Gant out of Springfield, Ga.
