Reds could actually be looking to deal Brandon Phillips

A couple of weeks ago a fellow media member passed along a rumor that the Reds were looking to unload second baseman Brandon Phillips, he of the 100-RBI season but a tempestuous personality. I didn’t believe it.

I’m starting to believe it.

John Fay of the Cincinnati Enquirer reported yesterday that speculation about a Phillips deal is heating up. Fayman referred to certain Reds front-office types that have their skin pricked by Phillips’ behavior.

Yahoo took it a step further, speculating that Baltimore would be interested and that the Reds would use Phillips’ money to sign Shin Soo-Choo and move Billy Hamilton to second base.
