Make it six Kentucky opponents that are now in the AP College Football Top 25 now that Missouri has joined the party.
Alabama, which visits Lexington on Saturday for a 7 p.m. game on ESPN2, remains No. 1. The Tide garnered 55 of 60 first-place votes after dispensing of Georgia State 45-3. Oregon was placed No. 1 on the other five ballots.
Georgia, which UK plays in Athens on Nov. 23, is No. 7 after pulling out a 34-31 overtime win at Tennessee on Saturday.
After beating visiting Kentucky 35-28 on Saturday, South Carolina comes in at No. 14. Florida, which beat UK 24-7 on Sept. 28, is 17th after a 30-10 victory over visiting Arkansas on Saturday.
Now comes Missouri, which improved to 5-0 with a 51-28 win at Vanderbilt. That helped Mizzou crack the Top 25 for this season as Gary Pinkel’s club came in at No. 25 in this week’s voting.
After a losing season last year, Pinkel appears to have the Tigers back on track. With a healthy James Franklin at quarterback, Missouri has scored at least 38 points in all five games and Saturday was the second game this season in which Mizzou has topped the 50-point mark.
