Neal Brown will be down on the field game day

Some offensive coordinators like to call plays from down on the field. They like to look their quarterback in the eye. They like to get a feel for what’s happening between the white lines.

Some offensive coordinators like to call plays from up in the coaches’ box. They like to see the defensive formations. They like to get a big picture of how plays and trends are developing.

Neal Brown is in the first category. UK’s new offensive coordinator will be on the field Saturday night when the Cats open the season against Western Kentucky at LP Field in Nashville. Wide receivers coach Tommy Mainord will be Brown’s eyes up in the box.

After Saturday morning’s practice, the two UK assistants talked about how it will all work come game day.
