Patrick Graffree, who announced this morning that he was transferring to Eastern Kentucky, has tweeted that fellow UK defensive lineman Thomas Chapman is transferring to Murray State.
As of this posting, Chapman has not tweeted confirmation of a transfer.
Chapman is a redshirt freshman who was a three-star recruit rated as the third-best prospect in the state of Kentucky for the Class of 2012. He played at duPont Manual High School in Louisville.
Mark Stoops indicated earlier today that he had meetings with several players at the end of training camp on Wednesday to discuss where they stood as far as the program and playing time were concerned. Stoops did indicate he expected more players beside Graffree to decide to leave.
Defensive line is the one position where UK appears to have good depth with Mister Cobble, Christian Coleman, Mike Douglas, Jacob Hyde, Jabari Johnson, Tristian Johnson, Melvin Lewis, Regie Meant, Donte Rumph and Zane Williams at the tackle spots.
Meant, a true freshman, has really impressed the coaches at camp. He’s raw, but the Cape Coral, Florida has the skills to be a good lineman in the SEC, says defensive line coach Jimmy Brumbaugh.
And, at ends, UK has Za’Darius Smith and Bud Dupree at starters. Those two may be the best players on the team. And true freshman Jason Hatcher has played well in camp.
