Last year’s 10 most up-tempo college football offenses

For all the debate over high-tempo offenses and the possibilities of creating injuries, especially among SEC coaches, it’s interesting that the league did not have an offense among the NCAA’s top 10 in snaps per game last season.

True, new Auburn coach Gus Malzahn and new UK offensive coordinator Neal Brown will bring two up-tempo offenses into the league this season. At Texas Tech last year, Brown’s offense averaged 76.4 snaps a game, which would be more than 10 a game than a year ago when Randy Sanders’ offense averaged 65.8.

Here’s a look at last year’s top 10 offenses by snaps per game. It should be noted that Marshall averaged 40.9 points and 534.2 yards per game a year ago.
