Kentucky’s newest commit has an EKU connection

Kentucky’s newest commitment, wide receiver Garrett Johnson, is from Florida, but he has Kentucky connections.

Nick Gray of the Kentucky Kernel reports that Johnson’s coach at West Orange High School is Bob Head, a Frankfort native who played college football at Eastern Kentucky. Head’s wife is from Lexington.

Actually, Head is entering his first season as the West Orange coach after spending eight years at Olympia High School. As for Johnson, Head told the Kernel, “He really enjoyed Lexington and would play today if he could.”

Johnson is UK’s 21st commitment for the Class of 2014.
