If you missed the news earlier today, UK has received a commitment from three-star wide receiver Garrett Johnson, a 5-foot-9, 160-pound prospect out of Winter Garden, Florida. Johnson was considering Rutgers, Boston College, Connecticut, South Florida and Wisconsin before playing well in Mark Stoops’ camp last weekend.
Johnson is the third wide receiver commitment the Cats have received for 2014. He joins Thaddeus Snodgrass and T.V. Williams. And the Cats signed four wide receivers — Jeff Badet, Javess Blue, Alex Montgomery and Ryan Timmons — back in February.
New offensive coordinator Neal Brown has said that the Cats are thin at receiver, which was not what you would like to find coming into run a passing offense. Chris and Demetrius Davis, transfers from Pittsburgh, could end up playing wide receiver but must sit out this season.
Remember, UK is still in the running for Braxton Berrios, the four-star receiver out of Raleigh, North Carolina who was just offered by Ohio State.
Here’s a look at a scholarship grid, using only the receivers believed to be on scholarship, over the next four years.
