Since we just looked at South Carolina football’s 10-year trend, and with UK meeting the Gamecocks on Thursday, Oct. 5 in Columbia, here’s a look at the last 10 meetings between the two schools.
In his short three-year run as UK’s football coach Joker Phillips produced two streak-breaking wins. One broke a 26-year losing streak to Tennessee. The other snapped an 0-17 mark against Steve Spurrier.
Unfortunately for the Cats, their 31-28 win over South Carolina in 2010 is the school’s lone victory over the Gamecocks since 1999.
Eight of the games since have been decided by a touchdown or less. That hasn’t been the case the past two years, however. South Carolina romped 54-3 in 2011. Last season in Lexington, the Gamecocks overcame a 17-7 halftime deficit to post a 38-17 win.
