U of L basketball coach Rick Pitino told a speaking group last week that the best move he ever made was stepping down as the coach at Kentucky. The second-best thing to happen to him was failing as coach of the Boston Celtics.
Kevin Eigelbach of Business First reports that Pitino talked about success and humility during his speech at the Mid-South ACG Capital Connection in Louisville.
I think saying that stepping down from UK was the “best move” is because it then brought on his failure with the Celtics, which taught the coach life lessons.
“Humility” was a big theme for Pitino during Louisville’s recent NCAA championship run.
He even joked at one stop that it took him too “damn long to learn it.”
