LOUISVILLE — A three-spot from Neal Brown’s talk when Kentucky’s new offensive coordinator spoke to the Louisville Quarterback Club today.
1. Best quote: “Coach Calipari has made Kentucky cool. We’ve got to make Kentucky football cool.”
2. With Kentucky unexpectedly and currently holding a top 10 recruiting class for 2014, the question is whether the Cats can hold on to those commitments between now and February. After all, with a brutal schedule, Mark Stoops is facing a daunting task in his first season as UK coach.
“I think (the commits) have created a real strong bond that regardless of what kind of year we have, I don’t think that will be broken,” Brown said.
3. In talking about his offense, Brown said quarterback competition would continue two weeks into fall camp. He likes Raymond Sanders as fit for new system and likes potential of other running backs. Said team is so thin at receiver might have tryouts. (Joking, I think.) He talked up depth at tight end and said offensive line had talent but was young overall, especially at center.
