UK’s newest commit Kobie Walker is from football power

Kentucky’s newest commitment, safety/linebacker Kobie Walker, comes from a powerhouse program in Maryland football that finished 10th in last year’s USA Today Super 25 rankings.

Our Lady of Good Counsel High School has won four straight Washington Catholic Athletic Conference titles and produced two Army All-Americans last season. Cornerback Kendall Fuller signed with Virginia Tech. Linebacker Dorian O’Daniel signed with Clemson.

The school had three players sign with Virginia — quarterback Whitey Marshall, cornerback Kirk Garner and wide receiver Andre Lavone.

Good Counsel also produced former Florida linebacker Jelani Jenkins, who was the No. 104 overall selection in this summer’s NFL Draft, picked in the fourth round by the Miami Dolphins.

As for this coming season, offensive lineman Sam Mustipher has been chosen to play in the Under Armour All-American Game. Defensive end Jessie Aniebonam have been chosen to play in the 2014 Army All-American Game.

In 2012, Good Counsel had 15 players offered scholarships.
