C.L. Brown of the Courier-Journal tweets that after Louisville's championship celebration and pep rally tonight, coach Rick Pitino said that Russ Smith and Gorgui Dieng will go into the NBA draft, but that Chane Behanan will return for his junior season.
Smith's father said after Louisville's 82-76 win over Michigan on Monday night that the junior guard would give up his senior year to enter the draft. Smith averaged 21 points per game in the NCAA Tournament before being held to nine points in the title game.
Pitino has said all along that Gorgui Dieng would put his name into the draft. The junior center has improved greatly since arriving at U of L as a raw talent. After failing to score in U of L's national semifinal win over Wichita State, Dieng held Michigan's Mitch McGary to a tournament-low six points in the final game.
Behanan was a key element to Louisville's second half comeback on Monday night. The sophomore from Bowling Green High School had 11 points and 11 rebounds in the second half alone.
