Talked to UK quarterback Maxwell Smith after the team’s spring practice this morning at the Nutter Field House. As you would expect, last year’s starter was asked who is winning the quarterback competition between Jalen Whitlow, Patrick Towles and himself.
“I have no idea,” Smith said. “We can think what we want. Obviously, each of us probably thinks we’re winning, but it’s really the coach’s decision.”
Smith said that he was more comfortable with the offense last year, as can be expected, but none of the quarterbacks has earned a full grasp of Neal Brown’s offense yet.
“We have to work a lot faster in this offense,” Smith said.
Last week, Mark Story wrote about the quarterback competition in spring drills.
