Kentucky-North Carolina Renew Rivalry Next Season

2014-15 game to be played in Rupp Arena

LEXINGTON, Ky. – The rivalry between two of the most tradition-laden basketball programs will renew next season as Kentucky and North Carolina have agreed to a two-year, home-and-home series beginning in the 2013-14 season.

The Wildcats will travel to Chapel Hill, N.C., in 2013-14 to take on the Tar Heels, and the series will return to Rupp Arena during the 2014-15 season.

Kentucky has won three of the last four meetings between the schools, while North Carolina holds a 22-13 edge in the all-time series.

Note: This now breaks up the North Carolina/Louisville games on the home schedule. Louisville comes to Rupp Arena next season while UK travels to Chapel Hill. Then in 2014-15, North Carolina comes to Rupp while UK travels to Louisville.

Huh? Home and home? What happened to the big arena deal?
Sorry, Indiana we’re not going to play any one who might beat us.

  2. Dingo Jones says:

It is a shame that IU didn’t want a neutral site series in Indy.

  3. roco says:

Indiana wasn’t even mentioned in this article. Who cares about IU. You think this season is all about you?

  4. larry henderson says:

I’m glad we don’t play Indiana, they shouldn’t be in the same breath with Kentucky and North Carolina.

  5. Michael Yared says:

This has nothing to do with locations and all to do with recruiting and records. North Carolina is beatable right now and should be for the foreseeable future. Indiana is not. Coach Cal will wait a few years until Indiana drops in the polls and then renew the rivalry.

Kentucky lost to notre dame on the load got beat by Louisville and lost @home to Baylor I don’t think cal is that worried about losing a game to IU, IU would probably win, easily win this year but it wouldn’t be the 18+ blow outs that uk has handed IU the past 8 years

Proud of these young Cats. They had a mountain to overcome and have responded fairly well. It’s beginning to look like we will have several of these players back next year. If so, that combined with Coach Cal’s super recruits coming in next season, will be fair warning to those who have licked their chops on beating us this year. Payback is coming…..Has anyone come up with a name for this team yet? How about
“HeartAttack Cats”….motto: “no lead 2 big 2 lose”.

And just think, this will make a smooth transition for this to be a conference game when UNC leaves the ACC and joins the SEC :) FEAR the courtroom you Greensboro fat-asses!
