Most of the recent headlines about DeMarcus Cousins have been of the negative variety, but last night the Sacramento Kings center packed a very positive stat line.
The former Kentucky star scored a season-high 31 points and matched a career-high with 20 rebounds in Sacramento’s 105-96 win over Dwane Casey’s Raptors in Toronto.
“I’ve been so out of rhythm,” Cousins told Jason Jones of the Sacramento Bee after the game. “I’ve been trying to force everything. And basically I was lucky enough to have a good game tonight.”
In his last five games, Cousins has averaged 19.4 points and 14 rebounds.
This hot streak follows Cousins suffering a suspension for a halftime verbal confrontation with Kings’ coach Keith Smart. That lead to rampant speculation that Sacramento would trade the third-year center to the highest bidder. That hasn’t happened, and if Big Cuz keeps playing the way he has lately it probably isn’t going to happen.
