SEC: Tennessee fans happy with Butch Jones’ staff

Some SEC notes for this Monday morning:

Joe Medley of the Anniston Star thanks football for giving us something else to think about this awful weekend. Meanwhile, a North Alabama walk-on is no longer on the football team after tweeting a racist remark during President Obama’s remarks during the memorial service last night.

No. 5 Florida’s loss at No. 8 Arizona on Saturday had much to do with the Gators committing too many turnovers. The Gators suffered a bad stretch at the end of the first half that turned out to be costly.

Tennessee women’s basketball team got a nice win on the road at Texas on Sunday. After building a 22-point lead, the Lady Vols withstood several rallies from the home team before taking the 94-75 win. And Vanderbilt’s women upset No. 12 Oklahoma. LSU’s women cruised past Louisiana Tech.

Missouri coach Gary Pinkel is expected to pick offensive line coach Josh Henson as his new offensive coordinator.  Tennessee fans are generally pleased with new coach Butch Jones’ first staff. New Texas Tech coach Kliff Kingsbury has much in common with old Texas Tech coach Tommy Tuberville.

Georgia’s Malcolm Mitchell hopes to settle in at receiver this off-season after playing both ways in 2012. And Auburn is having a tough time holding onto its recruits out of Georgia.

The Chic-fil-A Bowl is thrilled with its LSU-Clemson matchup. Michigan has suspended three players for its Outback Bowl game against South Carolina.
