Chart: Neal Brown and the Air Raid tree

With Neal Brown and Kentucky in the news, I’m the first to admit that the Hal Mumme “Air Raid” coaching tree can get pretty complicated. Mumme was Brown’s first coach at Kentucky when the former Boyle County wide receiver became a Wildcat.

Now let’s look at all the connections that might lead Brown back to being at UK once again, a tree or maze that includes Chad Scott (Scott), ┬áTony Franklin (Frankl), Mike Leach (Leach), Sonny Dykes (Dykes), Dana Holgorsen (Holgor), Mark Stoops (MaSt), Mike Stoops (MiSt), Bob Stoops (BobSt), Art Briles (Briles) and Kevin Sumlin (Sumlin).

In the chart, I’ve shaded whenever two or more coaches were on the same staff together, or in the same program together. (UK-p means player at Kentucky.) I’ve also included an asterisk to designate head coach.

Warning: You might want to take a Tylenol before looking at this chart.

School key: MC is Mississippi College. Wing is Wingate.

Note: Chart has been updated with corrections to Brown column. If you see any other problems, please let me know. Thanks.
