  • Final box for UK-Lafayette.
  • Final: Kentucky 101, Lafayette 49. Wiltjer led UK with 23. Poythress had 22.
  • Wiljter buried three triples in a span of 1:23 and Kentucky now leads Lafayette 93-41 with 3:53 remaining. Cats have made 11 of 18 from behind the line. Wiltjer is 7-of-11 from 3-point land. Goodwin has made two of three.
  • Kentucky doubling up Lafayette 82-41 with 6:44 left. Poythress leads the Cats with 22 points. He has made nine of 10 shots. It may not be quite the “beast” mode the freshman from the Nashville area was in against Duke last Tuesday, but it’s close. Hood is back in and grabbed a couple of rebounds.
  • Kentucky up 64-39 on Lafayette with 11:54 left. Noel has played well. He has 13 points, seven rebounds and four assists. The big man has shown his quickness a couple of times with steals, feeding ahead to Polson for fast-break layup, then slamming one home off his own steal. Kentucky has 10 steals for the game. Noel has three.
  • Anthony Jordan now the most unpopular man in Rupp. The official just called Archie Goodwin for a charge just before the freshman threw down a fast break jam off a pass from Polson. No matter. Kentucky still up 55-35 with 15:44 left. Attendance announced at 21,360.
  • As second half starts, did not take long for Calipari to yank Poythress and put in Polson. In fact, it took 1:21. At present, UK leads 55-33 with 16:39 left in the game.

  • Gotten a little sloppy now as UK leads Lafayette 44-24 with 3:52 left in first half. Archie Goodwin made a turnover just before the TV timeout and Calipari called for Polson to go in, then jumped on Goodwin as he came to the bench. Kentucky is shooting 68 percent. Lafayette is shooting 40 percent. UK is 5-of-7 on threes.
  • Kentucky 37, Lafayette 16 with 7:28 left in first half. Cats are shooting 71.4 percent. They have also forced Lafayette into six turnovers while turning it over just once themselves. Cauley-Stein has eight points, as does Poythress and Wiltjer. Jon Hood checked in during that segment and also got a hand. Kentucky has 11 assists on its 15 baskets.
  • Kentucky 24, Lafayette 12 with 11:34 left in first half. UK has made 10 of 13 shots, including a perfect four-of-four from three-point land. Jarrod Polson checked into a big round of applause, then promptly hit Willie Cauley-Stein for a dunk. Wiltjer leads UK in scoring with eight points. Poythress has six. Lafayette has made five of 15 shots for 33.3 percent.
  • Kentucky 15, Lafayette 10 with 15:27 left in first half. UK’s first three buckets were three. Kyle Wiltjer hit the first two and has eight points at this point. Julius Mays hit the third. Lafayette isn’t holding the ball. The Leopards are trying to run with the Cats and are shooting threes.
  • UK starters: Nerlens Noel, Archie Goodwin, Alex Poythress, Kyle Wiltjer and Julius Mays.
  • Officials tonight are Anthony Jordan, Mark Whitehead and Bruce Benedict.
  • UK makes it official. Harrow will not play tonight. He is being listed as “day-to-day.”
  • Lafayette’s best player, Dan Trist, a 6-foot-9 sophomore from Australia, was injured in shootaround and will not play tonight. Trist scored a combined 46 points in Lafayette’s first two games.
  • Ryan Harrow will not play for Kentucky.
