Remember former Xavier forward Dez Wells, who visited UK over the summer after basically being kicked out of the Cincinnati school? Wells ended up at Maryland, and today the NCAA ruled that the 6-foot-5
junior sophomore forward is eligible immediately.
That means Wells will play Friday when the Terps play Kentucky at Barclays Center in Brooklyn in the season opener for both schools.
“We’re very happy for Dez as the NCAA legislative relief process provided him with complete and fair due process,” Maryland Athletics Director Kevin Anderson said in the statement. “Our staff was personally invested in the NCAA waiver and appeal process because it was in the best interest of our student-athlete. We’re pleased that Dez will be able to move forward and experience all the opportunities that come with being a student-athlete at the University of Maryland.”
