Not at all Crowe. Planning for the future, they wanted to redshirt Towels so they could have Smith for 3 seasons and then Towels for his final two. As soon as Smith got hurt, they took the redshirt off Towels and practiced him with the ones even though he had previously only practiced with the scout team. That proves they thought Towels was the second best option. If they thought Whitlow was there second best option at QB, they would have given Whitlow all the reps with the ones.
