Florida hoops writer says 2007 Gators would beat 2011 Cats

Kevin Brockway, Florida basketball beat writer for the Gainesville Sun, and Mike Griffith, who covered Tennessee basketball for the Knoxville News-Sentinel, had a twitter conversation today about who might win a game between the Florida NCAA champs (2006-07) and the Kentucky champs of this past season.

Kevin added: “Horford > T. Jones, Brewer-Kidd Gilchrist even, guard shooting even, Miller-Richard even off bench.”

You can read more of Kevin’s tweets at @gatorhoops as he defends his position.

Noah would run Davis off the court????????? Obviously Noah has been in NBA for 4 years now so he has improved dramatically, but Noah as a freshman and. Davis as a freshman? It isn’t fair to compare current Davis to current Noah. Try comparing freshman Noah and freshman Davis and the pick is easy…. Davis would run Noah off the court. Davis will be lightyears ahead of Noah in couple years anyway.

  2. Cody says:

    Sorry, typo: drastically not dramatically..

  3. John S says:

Noah wasn’t a freshman when the Gators won the NC. He was a sophomore when he won the MVP of the tournament and a Junior when they defended their NC title. Nobody compared freshman Noah, or professional Noah to Davis now. They compared the 2 NC teams.

The commentors complaining about Noah wasn’t a freshman are retarded. The original question was comparing the Championship teams of Florida (06, 07) to the Cat’s ’12 championship team, and asking who would win if the teams played as they were during those years.

Noah was a sophomore and junior during those years. And yes, Noah would run Davis off the court. Davis faded in the waning minutes of the 12 SEC tourney game because Florida was playing up tempo the entire game. And that team wasn’t even CLOSE to being as conditioned as the front court of Brewer-Noah-Horford. Unfortunately, so did Florida’s ability to shoot the 3. Noah could run the fast break as well as any college player in the last 20 years.
