A pair of SEC have led the USA into the medal round of the FIBA Americas U-18 championship. The team is coached by Florida’s Billy Donovan. And it’s being led by Tennessee’s Jarnell Stokes.
The 6-foot-7 Stokes scored 23 points to lead the U.S. to an 83-64 win over Brazil in Monday’s play. Stokes was 11-of-14 from the floor and grabbed eight rebounds.
The U.S. team beat Virgin Islands by 63 points, Mexico by 51 and Brazil by 19. The U.S. plays Argentina on Tuesday in semifinal play.
Memphis’ signee Shaq Goodwin scored 30 points in the win over Mexico.
