His tweet: “Xavier transfer Mark Lyons visited Kentucky yesterday and sources told CBSSports he is expected to return to Lexington tonight.”
Lyons started alongside Tu Holloway at guard last year for the Muskies, who reached the NCAA Sweet 16 before losing to Baylor, a round before Baylor lost to Kentucky.
After a controversial and tumultuous season, however, Lyons and Xavier coach Chris Mack met and decided that Lyons would be better off spending his final season of eligibility elsewhere. Lyons is reportedly considering Kentucky, Kansas and Arizona.
Lyons told the Cincinnati Enquirer that his departure was a business decision:
“After the Baylor game, I wanted to come back and finish (at Xavier) with my brothers, but I had to do what was best for my family financially. It was a business decision,” Lyons said.
There is still some uncertainty whether Lyons would be eligible next season.
