Katz: Orlando Antigua on list for Rhode Island opening

In his three-point shot this morning, ESPN’s Andy Katz mentions¬†UK assistant Orlando Antigua as a possibility for the head coach opening at Rhode Island. Jim Baron was fired after 11 seasons as the RIU coach after the Rams finished with a 7-24 record. Baron was 184-166 overall and 833-93 in the Atlantic 10. His teams won 20 or more games and played in the NIT five times.

Antigua in his third year with John Calipari at Kentucky and has played a major role in the Cats bringing in the nation’s top recruiting class three years in a row. A Dominican Republic native who grew up New York, Antigua played for Pittsburgh before getting into coaching. He joined Calipari at Memphis in 2008.
