With South Carolina playing top-ranked Kentucky on just one day’s rest Saturday, here’s a look at those Thursday-Saturday combinations on the SEC basketball schedule so far this season.
- Jan. 12
- Miss State beat visiting Tennessee 62-58, then beat visiting Alabama 56-52
- Tennessee lost at Miss State 62-58, then lost to visiting Kentucky 65-62
- Jan. 19
- Alabama lost to visiting Vanderbilt 69-59, then lost at Kentucky 77-71
- Vanderbilt won at Alabama 69-59, then lost to visiting Mississippi State 78-77 in overtime
- Jan. 26
- Florida won at Ole Miss 64-60, then beat visiting Miss State 69-57
- Ole Miss lost to visiting Florida 64-60, then beat visiting South Carolina 66-62
- Feb. 2
- Florida beat visiting South Carolina 74-66 last night, now plays host to Vanderbilt on Saturday.
- South Carolina lost at host Florida 74-66 last night, now plays host to Kentucky on Saturday.
Teams that have played on Thursday night have a 3-3 record on Saturday.

I don’t see any major surprises in those outcomes. In most cases the better team won. The only upset might be Vandy losing at home to Miss. State.
