The Sacramento Kings have voided Chuck Hayes contract after the former Kentucky player failed a physical.
An abnormality was found on Hayes’ echo test last week and the former Houston Rocket had been undergoing more tests.
“This morning, in one of the most heartbreaking moments of my professional or personal life,” said Kings basketball president Geoff Petrie in a statement released by the team.
The Sacramento Bee reports that, “In his physical with the team, Hayes was found to have a heart abnormality in an echo stress test. He had undergone more testing before it was announced that the team would void the contract.”
Hayes had signed a four-year deal worth $21.3 million with the club.
