A few notes from Kentucky’s 48-10 loss to Florida.
- Florida rushed for 405 yards, the most against a UK defense since the 1994 team allowed 564 rushing yards to Indiana.
- Rick Minter on that stat: “Anytime you have somebody come into your house and rush for over 400 yards, that’s embarrassing.”
- The 405 rushing yards is the most by a Florida team since the 1989 team rushed for 466 against New Mexico in 1989.
- Florida’s 520 total yards was most against UK since national champ Auburn gained 521 last year.
- UK trailed 21-3 at the end of first quarter. Over last four years, the Gators outscored UK 94-3 in the first quarter.
- The 38-point loss was UK’s worst by margin since the 63-5 loss to the Gators in Gainesville in 2008.
- In fact, Kentucky’s worst four losses since 2008 have all been to the Gators – 63-5 in 2008; 41-7 in 2009; 48-14 in 2010 and 48-10 tonight
- Morgan Newton completed 16 of 33 passes for just 124 yards with one touchdown and two interceptions. His pass efficiency rating was 77.9. His rating was 69.2 against Western Kentucky.
- True freshman quarterback Maxwell Smith got his first playing time of the year, completing six of 11 passes for 41 yards.
- Danny Trevathan had his steak of 12 consecutive double-digit tackle games snapped. The Florida native finished with eight tackles on the night.
- Florida’s Jeff Demps rushed for 157 yards, while teammate Chris Rainey rushed for 105. It marked the first time two Florida backs surpassed 100 yards in the same game since Rainey (142) and Emmanuel Moody (116) in 2009 against The Citadel.
- Demps’ 157 yards was a career-high.
- Demps 84-yard touchdown run tied for the sixth-longest in Florida history, and twas the longest by a Gator in an SEC game since Emmitt Smith had a 96-yard run against Mississippi State in 1988.
