Spotlighting UK fans on twitter: @carly_jane

We begin our third week of spotlighting UK fans on twitter with Carly Messmer.

Her twitter handle is @carly_jane.

Carly has a healthy 1,429 followers, and has over 6,130 tweets to her credit.

Her tagline: “charleston transplant. kentucky native. seo manager @visiture. co-owner @GreenDogLove. kentucky wildcats enthusiast. coffee lover. food aficionado.”

Her requested bio:

I’m a Kentucky native, but I currently call Charleston, SC home. I grew up in Northern Kentucky and attended the University of Kentucky. I like to say I was at UK during the ‘dark years’. I graduated in 2008 and would have given anything to witness the resurrection the basketball program has seen over the last two years. However, I was able to see some incredible football wins (and College Gameday!). After college I made the move to the Lowcountry and have been lucky to find a great group of diehard Kentucky fans to watch games with.

In Charleston I work at an Internet marketing agency, Visiture, and also co-own an eco friendly dog store, GreenDogLove. I love being down South because it has given me the opportunity to become even more obsessed with the SEC. Charleston is a melting pot of SEC schools (and a few pesky ACC fans) making it the perfect place for Saturdays in the Fall.

I can’t ever remember not being a UK fan. Being my father’s daughter I was born and raised to worship the legend of Rupp, hate any and everything Duke, and Bleed Blue. My two favorite Cat alums are Tony Delk and Patrick Patterson. I may or may not have been crying when Patrick announced he was coming back for his Junior Year…

I grew up on basketball, but my football obsession is growing at a rapid pace. I have a personal goal of attending football games (and tailgates, of course) at every SEC school. My current count is 5/12 – those teams in the West are a hike! :)

I love using Twitter as a venting outlet during games. If you read my tweets after a football game they might not make much sense, but in the moment “GO GO GO!” “TOUCHDOWN” and “HOLD HIMMM” encapsulate everything I’m feeling. Some of my proudest Twitter moments have been getting replies from Jamal Mashburn, Wayne Turner, and Nazr Mohammad. I would also like to use this opportunity to suggest that people stop asking athletes for retweets. Not to be harsh, but Boogie doesn’t care that it’s your son’s birthday. Leave him alone. Your silly retweets are clogging my feed.
