Report: Most Dominicans never heard of Calipari

(AP photo)

This can’t be right, can it?

The guy has over a million followers on twitter. He has his own web site, CoachCal.com. He was at the Yankees-Red Sox game in New York on Sunday night, the Bulls-Hawks playoff game in Chicago last week. He will be honored at Dick Vitale’s Gala on Friday night. Everyone knows John Calipari, right? Apparently, the Dominicans did not know the Kentucky coach when he was introduced yesterday as the new head coach of their national team.

He is now also apparently “the former” Kentucky coach.

Woods was dismissed from Wake Forest for the semester and Grace said the one-time Louisville commit told him he will likely go to Kentucky.

But on Sunday, Woods’ former coach suggested that Texas was the leader.

Trevathan and Warford make Brandt’s Top 100

Gil Brandt, the famous former vice president of player personnel for the Dallas Cowboys for 30 years, has listed his top 100 eligible players for the NFL Draft in 2012.

Two Kentucky players made the list.

Senior linebacker Danny Trevathan is at No. 62.

Junior offensive lineman Larry Warford is at No. 96.

Trevathan is not a surprise, but this confirms the notion that Warford is a true up-and-comer. He played as a true freshman, then started last year as a sophomore. This season, look for Warford to make a strong bid for first-team All-SEC honors.
