You might find this interesting. A couple of weeks ago my wife and I were watching Kansas playing somebody. The TV broadcast crew was Bob Knight and Brent Mussberger. During the broadcast and usually during time-outs, they would do promos about upcoming games. They did a couple that day with UK and an upcoming opponent. After the last promo involving UK, my wife said something to the effect: Did you notice that neither Bob Knight or nor Brent Mussberger ever said the word “Kentucky”.
They would dance around it by referring to that first place team in the SEC or something to that effect but, they would not say the word “Kentucky”. Well,we just watched Kansas beat Kansas State and the game was broadcast by Bob Knight and Brent Mussberger. Guess what? They did it again! At no time did they say the word “Kentucky” during a promo. They would say Georgia Tech vs. Duke and Mississippi State vs. the regular season SEC winner but, they would never say “Kentucky”. Think maybe Bob Knight had something to do with that? Our only explanation was that they must suffer from “Wildcat Phobia”. It was kinda funny, really.

Knight is such a bitter old man. still holds a grudge after joe b beat his undefeated team back in the day.
ESPN probably caught so much flak about knights comments earlier this year, they put a muzzle on him
I totally understand why Bob hates KY. Calipari represents the way that the game has changed to him. It’s become a one and done, shady recruiting affair and to Knight Coach Cal is the archetype of this change. I also think that Knight is a closet racist and won’t jock a team that doesn’t have at least one white guy getting minutes. Just listen to him when he calls a Kansas game. He loves him a big white boy.
Why a national broadcasting company allows this bias is beyond me. Everyone expects announcers to be unbiased, ESPN is the worst at allowing their guys to show favoritism. In the end it diminishes everything they do, but they have all the money so they don’t care. Spend more time on Rivals and Yahoo sports less time on ESPN. You’ll get a better view of the college scene.
It would be just like him to refuse to say Kentucky on the air. Knight is a bore and a bully, and isn’t nearly the draw the WWL thinks he is. Hopefully he’ll wear out his welcome there sometime soon.
BTW: The picture of them reminds me of the two old codgers on the Muppets. lol
This is a bad business decision in addition to all the other factors sited. Big Blue Nation is a proud and devoted fan base that travels and sepnds money to support their team. Why would you let a bitter old ass bag who abused his former players alienate the biggest college basketball fan base in the country? Makes no sense.
Kentucky played in five of ESPN’s top 11 game telecasts in terms of ratings this season. The suits at ESPN need to remember this when they choose to employ people like knight and Mussberger aka: mustyburger.
If ESPN doesn’t put an end to this stuff from thw two of them, then ESPN is the problem.
I’m not sure why they even have Bobby calling games anyway. He is so boring and his comments just don’t add up. When Bobby is calling a game my TV is on Mute. I just hope he stays as far away from Kentucky as possible.
Bobby Knight has probably been told just not to say anything about kentucky (since he is a rude arse). Too bad he may not be allowed to announce any of the final games Kentucky will be in during the NCAA tourney. Bye bye bobby.
All I have to say about bobby and brent is that they’re real professionals aren’t they. Even if you don’t like a team or coach a person has to remember how to be a professional. As anyone can see, bobby “crybaby” knight, was an exceptional coach who never figured out how a real profession at any job acts. As far as brent is concerned, he’s just a bobby k butt kisser.
PS: bobby please don’t step one of your nasty feet into Rupp Arean again or for that matter the state of Kentucky.
The terms Psychopath and Sociopath come to mind every time I hear the name Bobby Knight . . . Thank goodness he and his cheerleader/hero-worshipping do-boy Musberger can\’t mutter the word \”Kentucky.\” Who wants our good name tarnished by having it roll off the lips of those two jerks.
This is simple to understand, Knight has many good traits, but he has always been mentally on the edge and often been on a planet all to himself. He has managed through much of his career to bully people into allowing him to be on his imaginary planet. That is why IU fired him, and why he was in such shock over it. He dislikes Calipari because he is in many ways the opposite of Knight, he can actually talk to people, and influence their actions without intimidation. Knight he could never do that, in fact at time if verbal bully tactics did not work, he would try physical i.e. choking. Knight could have never coached this years Kentucky team and handled these freshmen. Calipari represents college basketball as it is today, Knight is what it was in the 1950s thru 1970s.. Knight hates him for it. Knight also never really handled some of his IU vs UK games that well, especially the 1975 NCAA game, so you mix the two and you have Knight all bent out of shape. Well ESPN has obviously gotten on to him over not taking wild personal shots, so Knight in his typical hard headed bully ways decided he want speak the word to include no saying the name. Musburger, he is just being pushed around by Knight, he has no personal ax to grind. ESPN really needs to cut Knight loose!
Also a nice little “coincidence” that old Bobby had a “scheduling conflict” & wasn’t able to make it when ESPN Game Day visited Lexington. Of course, after seeing 24,000 Wildcat Fans boo when Pitino’s name was mentioned on the broadcast – & his banner is hanging in the rafters – I would have loved to have see Knight sitting square in the middle of Rupp Arena…

I bet he did get in hotwater earlier in the year when he was cutting/denouncing UK/Calipari and ESPN made him SHUT UP. Be just like that ole BASTERD to vow…”I’ll never say Kentucky again”. That is why the ole basterd did not come to Rupp on Gameday. Shame because I do respect his accomplishments as a coach…….but as a man – he ain’t one.
bob nite is a 16 year old boy in a 88 year old body. must have some voices in the head, because nothing else is there. no room in the inn. if he is buried face down at lease we will able to recognize him.
Knight has never forgiven UK for knocking his unbeaten team out of the Big Show in Dayton in 1975 where he refused to shake hands with Joe B. Hall afterwards. Ask Joe B about how Mussberger hosed him once (by editing hs remarks) in in interview and you might understand him. Plus he don’t the seeds to rub Knight wrong on the air.
Knight is a has been, an arrogant foul-mouthed, prejudiced ego-maniac. and Mussberger is his lap dog, what a pitiful excuse for a broadcasting team, wake up ESPN people are fed up with these two.

Did any notice that Bobby was on College GameDay the week after Rupp, if your picture is on the GameDay Bus wahy can’t you be in the arena or on any of the shows leading up to Rupp. Bobby showed what he really is,a coward!!!!
Yesterday bobby knight could not remeber a player name and said he was having a brain freeze. Well let me say that bobby your brain has been frozen since 1975. Futhermore espn you should be ashamed to allow him and little sidekick digger to even be a part of youe U>K. hating staff
