Kentucky fans can enjoy their (box) wine and cheese

Lisa Benson, online managing editor of the Cincinnati Business Courier, writes about the new Kentucky Blue Box line of box wines. Excerpt:

The UK blue-inspired boxes come in five varietals that sell for about $20: Concord, Vidal Blanc, Tailgate White, Tailgate Red and Sweet Mellow White. Two more, Blue Box Chardonnay and Blue Box Cabernet Sauvignon, sell for about $30.

But it’s really the box that sells it.

By the way, you can click on the official web site, where Joe B. Hall and Denny Crum are the pitch men.

OK, sitting just outside Napa/Sonoma wine country in San Francisco, I just have to say — this is so wrong!!! :)

I agree…wrong…Kentucky in general already has a major stereotype issue to deal with. This does not help.

It should be a box of bourbon. Does anybody know someone at the Kentucky Distillers Association?

There’s nothing wrong with this, KY’s reputation aside…it’s just fun.

Does this mean we can bring back the Beer Barrel for the Tennessee-Kentucky football game. Just in case you forgot, since it hasn’t been seen in Lexington for 25 years.
