Thumbing through the LSU notes, the sports information staff has used the NBA player efficiency numbers to figure which Tiger is the most efficent. That prodded me into using the same formula to calculate UK player numbers.
It’s a plus-minus formula. The plus number is points + rebounds + assists + steals + blocked shots. The minus number is ((field goal attempts - field goals) + (free throw attempts - free throws) + turnovers). Take minus from plus, then divide by the number of games played for the average efficiency rating of each player.
Here’s the chart:

John Clay is a sports columnist for the Lexington Herald-Leader. A native of Central Kentucky and a 1981 graduate of the University of Kentucky, he covered UK football for 13 seasons before being promoted to columnist in 2000. Born in Paris, he graduated from George Rogers Clark High School in Winchester in 1977. He lives in Lexington with his wife and two sons. In 2010, his Sidelines blog was one of four Editor and Publisher's EPpy Award finalists for best sports blog. You can e-mail him at jclay@herald-leader.com.
It seems to me that you’d want to divide based on minutes played rather than on games played.
