John Calipari was on Sports Radio Interviews recently, where he said a little more about Bob Knight’s comments last week.
An exceprt:
On whether or not he plans on calling Knight after these comments:
“I don’t know, I haven’t thought about it. I might. I have his cell number ‘cause like I said we have stayed in touch some. I do have it and I may call him, but like I said I’m worried about coaching my team, getting this team better and I’ve been pretty good over my career about the distractions. When I get on point of what I’m doing and what I’m coaching, you can try to throw stuff at me to see if you can get me off point to affect this or affect that, but in most cases it makes me a little sharper.

the more i think about it…it seems like ol’ Bobby was just trying to soothe the IU boosters and alumnae at the luncheon where the remarks were made….seeing as how we took IU’s best shot and still wiped the floor with them…perhaps it was just Bobby beinb Bobby, but perhaps he was trying to win back some support in Hoosier land by slamming IU’s nemesis…or maybe he’s just an ass
Could someone please tell me why, when a team like Kentucky is leading by approx. 20 points with 3 or 4 minutes remaining, not let players like Hood, Krebs, Stevenson, and Harrellson into the game untill there is less than a minute to go. Someone like Hood should realize that if he is that much of a liability, with four minutes to go, the writing is on the wall, and he should know he will never be a factor in this program. If he was my son, I would try to explain to hin, that if he wants to play Div. 1 basketball, he better move on….Do you agree withthis assessment. Wayne Potvin
i think he should just let it lay. it was simply an effort to detract from UK2K. UK/CAL haters are going to hear what they want to hear. it’s just eating them up, from the inside out, that we’re back, stronger than ever, with the best coach and the best program in the country!
