Of course all the people envious of UK are going to jump on this with glee. They can’t stand the thought Kentucky will be back on top for years to come.
I still want that poll back though…can you grant that request or are you too busy copying and pasting tweets rather than acting as a journalist and writing a story about the comments?
Who gives a damn what Bobby Knight says? He’s a paid anti-UK Analyst like the rest of the ACC owned ESPN analysts.
Matt, Quit being an ass. Clay is the epitome of a fair reporter when it comes to the Cats. I’d take him ANY DAY over Tipton and for you to suggest he’s anything like him just shows your own ignorance.
As for this RMK matter, for him to call out ANYONE, let alone Calipari, just further solidifies the fact that Knight remains as clueless as ever when it comes to his own transgressions. Otherwise, he’d keep his mouth closed, because he’d know that he has no room to comment on the integrity of any other coach.
Someone reminded me of an old quote from Adolph Rupp the other day. While it doesn’t necessarily apply in the case of Knight, because he’s just an idiot, it certainly goes a long way in response to some of those tweeters…

Let me see… the last time Bobby Knight uttered a single word that I felt carried any significance or importance… Hmmm… Wow, I guess, never! So, I will not be bothered now. Go Cats! Go Cal!
Just a minor point of contention…
I think when Booby questioned Cal\’s integrity, it was not integrity of the personal as a whole, but rather with 1 and done players and sketchy SAT\’s. The rest of what Bobby says goes on to talk about a player only needing to pass 6 credit hours in order to play out their year in college basketball (see: Rose, Wall, Cousins). This is also a slight at the NCAA.
So with that lense in mind, RMK absolutley has the background to call out Cal because RMK was known for graduating players and making them attend class for 4 years of college. He has classic stories of players form awful backgrounds and making them stand up men in other avenues of life than basketball because anything can happen. (See: Landon Turner)
Now if RMK had said something bad about Cal for mistreating players, then something would be up, but when he pokes at Cal\’s practice of taking players no one else would touch because of off court issues and academics… Bobby can say whatever he wants because he wrote the book in that area.
Coach Knight was a great coach, sorry that so many in Kentucky can’t see that even if he had a little temper. I still respect him even today for his wisdom about the game. Every coach including Coach Cal has something that they aren’t proud of.
ukfan, don’t be silly. As an x and o guy, Knight was obviously great. He put very few players in the NBA but won a ton of games and some championships. UK fans know that. We are not talking about his x and o’s. We are talking about his character – just like he wasn’t talking about Cal’s x and o ability.
calipari is the direct loophole to the NBA and for that reason he will be properly paid as well as properly relocated like a suspect in the witness protection program. I think any fan needs to look at the big picture and either enjoy the fact that college basketball is more entertaining than the NBA and is what will keep basketball around for a bit longer. Enjoy the games it’s too far tainted to dwell on. Lose the rule they have to go to college and make their first contract in the NBA require in their free time they need to earn and education. Oh wait that might get rid of college basketball…hmmm alright make them play one year and live by this saying “Dont hate the player hate the game”
