At his meeting with the media today, John Calipari was asked if there’s any change in status with DeAndre Liggins, the sophomore who has yet to appear in a game this season. Cal said not really, but that Liggins is doing better. And the coach isn’t going to tell us, or the general public, what’s going on.

Very frustrating, probably the 1 issue Calipari has delt with at UK where he is 100% in the wrong. If the kid is sitting out due to academics or eligibility issues, say so. If it is the rumored failed drug test, then say it is a violation of team rules. Calipari wants to think saying NOTHING is somehow protecting Liggins, but it is only HURTING. Because in the absence of any information, rumors of all kinds of horrible things Liggins has done to cause him to not play are being batted around.
I disagree with the previous comment. I am a HUGE UK fan. I bleed blue. And I am ravenous as the next guy. But WE are not entitled to know every little thing that happens behinds closed doors, as long as it is being handled the right way. If it becomes very obvious that Liggins is being treated unfairly or unethically, maybe we start demanding some details. But just because I’m a fan, Coach Cal doesn’t have to tell me everything about the Liggins saga. We know he’s making poor choices right now. Let’s leave him alone and give him a chance to rehab himself without public scrutiny. Let’s leave Cal alone and give him a chance to help this KID (yes, these are kids). It’s about helping kids, not us having all the information our big blue minds crave!
For one thing Liggins is not a kid!! He will be 22 y/o in March. Liggins suspension was over after the Rider game. He has been available to play since the Cleveland State game. He was suspended for failing a drug after Gilispie was let go. It was the schools and the NCAA’s decision to suspended him for 6 games. Dodson was suspended for 3 games (SHS, Rider and Cleveland State) for failing a drug test also. Dodson had to stand in front of the team on Nov. 14th and tell the team why and what he did to get suspended. And Dodson is not a kids either. He will be 21 y/o soon.
I can’t understand how John Clay or Titpon have not found out about this!!
