SEC links for Monday:

Pat Dooley of the Gainesville Sun reports Florida loss sent Urban Meyer to hospital: “Meyer, who did not appear on his weekly TV show Sunday, participated in a Sugar Bowl teleconference Sunday night and sounded fine, but the call’s moderator would not allow Meyer to address questions about his health or Saturday night’s visit to the hospital.”

John Patton of the Sun writes that Charlie Strong makes no excuses for Florida’s defensive performance: ” They gave up 22.2 points more than their average, and Alabama quarterback Greg McElroy’s 239 passing yards was nearly 100 more than Florida typically allowed. The Crimson Tide also ran for 251 yards, 160.1 more than UF’s opponents average.”

Seth Emerson of The State reports on Clemson’s win over South Carolina: “Trailing 61-54 with 5:33 remaining, Downey flipped up a runner on a fast break, but it rolled out, and Austin Steed was called for a foul going for the rebound. That play symbolized Downey’s and USC’s frustrations.”

David Paschall of the Chattanooga Times Free Press reports on Alabama’s opportunity: “If Alabama is to add another national championship trophy to its Bryant Museum, the Crimson Tide will have to do something they’ve never done before. Beat Texas.”

Athens Banner-Herald has report on Georgia’s loss to Virginia Tech: “In the second half, Delaney – the Atlantic Coast Conference’s leading scorer at 21.2 points per game entering the game – scored 12 of Virginia Tech’s first 16 points, helping the Hokies build a 15-point lead.”

Austin Ward of the Knoxville News-Sentinel reports that a Tennessee assistant may be headed to FSU: “Florida State has not officially announced the hiring of Eddie Gran or given any indication of what position the Vols’ special teams-running backs coach might be accepting, but Gran, according to multiple published reports, appears to be set to join new Seminoles coach Jimbo Fisher’s staff.”

Kevin Scarbinsky of the Birmingham News writes that Florida AD Jeremy Foley showed some class: “There’s a reason the Florida AD is considered the best in the business, and it’s not just because of all the championships his teams have won and all the money his school has made.”

Jeff Lockridge of the Tennessean reports on Vandy women’s win over WKU: “Marsh and Jence Rhoads scored 17 points each, combining for 13 in overtime to pace the Commodores (8-1). Marsh scored off the overtime tip to snap a 62-62 tie and added another layup moments later to put Vanderbilt up for good at 66-64.”
