Jay Bilas picks North Carolina to beat UK

Update: Writing for Sporting News, Dan Blank gives three reasons why UK will win, and three reasons why Carolina wins.

ESPN’s Jay Bilas breaks down the Kentucky-North Carolina matchup, and comes out with the Heels on top.

An exceprt:

The Heels have shown a great deal of positive development over the past two weeks and look like a top-10 team that can beat anyone if it plays at its optimum level. The questions about guard play have subsided somewhat, with Larry Drew II coming along as a reliable and productive point guard, and Dexter Strickland showing progress and providing quality minutes. Can Carolina have tough stretches and look like less than a Final Four team? Yes, but not for very long. This team has the highest ceiling for growth in the ACC and is more than talented enough to beat Kentucky in Lexington.

Jay is an ACC guy. Is anyone shocked by his pick?

Jay Bilas would say he picks UNC even if he thought UK would win.

Jay’s niece went to UK. His brother lives in Louisville. Don’t think he’s biased against Kentucky. In fact, he was one of Calipari’s chief defenders in the Memphis/Derrick Rose deal.

Lose in December; win in March. Not a bad outcome for U. K. But, ah heck, let’s win em both!

JB has always said what he thinks. I like how he got into with DUKEY V a few years ago.

If he picks unc to win…oh well. He’ll just come back with something respectable and give the reasons why UK DID WIN.
